The Shadwell Steeplechase. A race on the trails, fields, footpaths and country roads around the village of Shadwell and Thorner. Despite a steeplechase being more more commonly known to be a track or even horseback event The Shadwell Steeplechase get it’s name from it’s 26 stiles spread accross the course.

The race starts at Shadwell Village hall and then does a small loop of the village of Shadwell before heading into nearby fields and footpaths over to the village of Thorner before returning via forests and fields.

All medals and tees are sold as optional extras upon entry, this is to to reduce our impact on our environment, and to make our races more affordable for everyone.
Water Container - Great Owl Running events are cupless, we provide water at refill stations but you must bring your own container.
Other - Depending on weather we might make some gear mandatory however this is unlikely.
Shadwell is a small village on the outskirts of Leeds very close to Roundhay Park. There is parking at the village hall and local on street parking. We have a few spaces available on a first come first serve basis. We always like to encourage all local runners to come via foot, bicycle or public transport. There is some on street parking close by but please park respectfully of the locals. Please plan your journey to allow time to get to race HQ.
